SMITHA BHANDARE KAMAT

Dr. Smitha Bhandare Kamat, is an Educationist, Columnist and Cartoonist based in Goa, India. She has been a recipient of State Award (Government of Goa), Lokmat Award, Agent of social change and other accolades for her teaching and social contribution. She’s Associate Professor, S.S.Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Cujira, Goa.

She was selected as the ‘Cartoonist of the month ‘ (December 2019) by a Turkish International Cartoon Magazine- Birkitapbindost. She received Honourable mention in ‘The Cartoonist of the year 2019’ an international cartoon event organised by Toons Mag, Norway 2019. Consolation Prize for Mario Miranda Cartoon Contest 2020. Earlier, along with Mr.Rene Barreto, she organised the Global Cartoon Contest for the Goan diaspora WGD 2019 and WGD 2020.

She has authored 3 books on creative writings and one on socio-political cartoons. She’s the first Goan Lady Cartoonist to receive such honour in the field of cartooning.
